Last day in Nebaj

Today I woke and I have to say I was not in a good mood. I had really bad dreams about getting my results and it put me in a badish mood for the day. We had a talk from one of the volunteers who works for this cafe and it was about the history here, very interesting and quite amazing the things that the people here have been through! We have it so easy back home in comparison.

We went to our school today and took some things to give to the teacher, she wasnt there so we left it with their children who we have all fallen in love with and wish we could take back home with us and give them a real chance for a good life.

I am leader today which means I make the decisions despite some rather pushy people who are desperate to get their own way. I ate an avocado today which was nice.

I am looking forward to moving onto a new place because although I like it here I feel that we are not actually doing that much anymore because there were never any children at the school as they were always on camps. Yesterday however was the festival celebrating the two year anniversary and loads of kids from different schools turn up and they all walked along the street playing musical instruments. It was great to see because despite their poorness they still take part in music and celebrations.

What else... I took my clothes to the laundrette, had a pb and j sandwich and ate lots of cake- very bad!

I´m hoping in the next couple of days my mood will pick up and I will be more positive, apparently the water pools at Semuc Chempey are really beautiful and will be nice and relaxing. I am slightly concerned about our final trek as there is definitely still something wrong with my knee, just walking down the stairs hurts :(

Anyway, happy holidays to everyone, Ive heard that the sun has now gone and therefore you will no longer be getting great tans... what a shame!

Love to everyone, good luck with results as I may not blog for a while as we are going to Semuc Chempey, Tikal Ruins, Trekking and then Cancun. Miss you all and dont worry, we will be safe on the roads xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Lovely to hear from you and I hope you see this before you move on. You sound a like deflated but I think that goes with the terrority on this type of trip. omorrow isa new day and a new opportunity to experience new things....preferably not meeting bandits!! In the unlikely event you do, give them your money and camera, all are replaceable, remove your memory card for travel, that is all you would miss and keep yourself safe.....that is No1 priority. The silver dollar will keep you safe, touch it from time to time and you will see!!

On the knee, have you strapped it up. If you strap it below the knee cap that will give you extra support. Be careful going down hill, that is when it takes most strain. Make sure they all know if you have a problem. I have my mobile and bank BB so am available 24/7 if you need an SAS rescue.....I have alwasys wanted to be a hero!!

The next phase really looks awesome, you are such a star, we still miss you loads but continue to be immensely proud. You are a leader and not just for a day and will always be so in our eyes, a true gift to us, make sure you take care of yourself. love you Linky, Mum and James

Hi Looby, don't know if you'll see this but Dad's right you need to strap your knee Rafal Nadal style to give it some support (might even make you play great tennis)
You are bound to have low days, it's a very long hard trip, but you're over half way through now. Don't think about exam results, they will be fine. Everyone here is so proud of you! We are all blobbing about doing our normal nonsense, and you are doing all those amazing things, I can see why they call it a challenge.
The first thing we do everyday is check your blog. Hope you can feel all the love and support whooshing over from us to you.
Take Care, keep safe and bandit free, and remember your lovely warm, clean shower is waiting for you.
Love you lots, from Auntie and All of us X

No, don't worry Louise, we will all still get our tans, even if it means a trip to boots!! I had a fright yesterday when i realised results day is next week!! And i also had a dream about bad results and remember last year the results i dreamt about I actually got when is not to reassuring.

Continue having a great time. I hope your knee is ok, something else to add to the injury list, good job you know who isnt there telling you to hurry up and insist on carrying your bag to make it to the campsite 30mins early! haha.

Love you lots chickpea, keep safe

Ah, glad it's not just me that noticed a lack of Louise's bubbly (also known as barmy) language.

I'm guessing you won't read this for a while, so I'll keep it short.

I second everything your family said too. Just read that, especially the last paragraph, whenever you need a lift - it expresses what we all think.

See you in a fortnight.

KTF

Love you xxxxx
